Jennifer Keiper

It’s back to The Big 89 for veteran Chicago radio newswoman Jennifer Keiper.

After six years as Midwest correspondent for Fox News Radio, Keiper is returning to Cumulus Media news/talk WLS AM 890. Starting July 28, she’ll anchor news for Roe Conn and Richard Roeper’s afternoon show.

She succeeds Susan Carlson, who resigned in April to join NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5 as a full-time reporter and fill-in news anchor. Ryan Burrow, who’s been anchoring afternoon news on WLS in the interim, is expected to return to middays. Continue reading →

Jennifer Lyons

It’s official: Jennifer Lyons, a 20-year veteran of WGN-Channel 9, has been named news director of the Tribune Broadcasting station. Her appointment, effective immediately, was announced Wednesday.

Lyons, 46, who most recently was interim news director, succeeds Greg Caputo, 64, who retired last week after 11 years in the top job. Lyons had served as assistant news director under Caputo since 2008 and was executive producer of the station’s morning and midday newscasts before that. Continue reading →

Laurence Holmes and Dylan McGorty

Laurence Holmes and Dylan McGorty debuted Wednesday as hosts of “120 Morning Run,” a new two-hour block of live programming on 120 Sports, the recently launched video network and mobile app that’s been called a game-changer for sports fans.

Airing from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, the show is billed as a preview of the day ahead in sports and a roundup of the previous night’s highlights. Comparing it to ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption,” Holmes described it as “a more relaxed free-form flow with video and highlights.” Continue reading →

National Radio Hall of Fame

Bruce DuMont has stepped down after more than 20 years as chairman of the National Radio Hall of Fame and handpicked a West Coast executive as his successor.

DuMont, who turned 70 on June 18, appointed Kraig Kitchin to replace him as chairman of the Chicago-based shrine to radio’s top personalities and programs. Continue reading →

An apparent rift between Ed Volkman and Joe Colborn has dashed hopes for another comeback by the long-running Chicago radio duo known as Eddie & Jobo.

“Well, that's all, folks,” Volkman declared on Facebook and Twitter Saturday. “There will be no Eddie & Jobo anymore. The offer was there, but only one of us wanted it. Hope he finds happiness.” For the first time in more than 25 years, Volkman is seeking work solo. Continue reading →
