Ex-publisher Tom Conradi out at Chicago magazine

Tom Conradi, onetime publisher and longtime sales chief at Chicago magazine, is out after nine years at the tronc-owned monthly.

Conradi’s most recent position as general manager of sales and operations will not be filled, with sales now reporting directly to Susanna Homan, editor-in-chief and publisher of Chicago magazine.

Dana Meyer, executive director of corporate communications at tronc, confirmed Friday that Conradi had left the company but declined to elaborate, saying the company “does not comment on personnel.”

Conradi did not respond to a request for comment.

Conradi, 49, had been publisher until March 2016 when Homan was appointed to the combined role. He started with the magazine as director of advertising in 2008 and moved up to director of national sales and development in 2010. Following the ouster of Rich Gamble as publisher, Conradi was named interim publisher in August 2014 and promoted to publisher in January 2015.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School for Boys and Columbia College, Conradi began in 1990 as an account executive with Pioneer Press, then owned by Sun-Times parent company Hollinger International. He joined Tribune Co. (now tronc) as a classified advertising manager in 1999 and later headed the Chicago Tribune’s classified division.
