Weeks after marking his 30th year on Tribune Media news/talk WGN AM 720, overnight host Nick Digilio has been sidelined for undisclosed health reasons.

Digilio, 49, was hospitalized this week and said to be undergoing tests to determine his illness. He’d been off the air most of last week and returned early Monday morning sounding strangely weak, according to numerous listeners. He hasn't been heard from since.

WGN weekend hosts Mike Stephen, Matt Bubala and Brian Noonan are among those filling in from 2 to 5 a.m. weekdays. Fans have been posting get-well wishes and messages of concern on Digilio's Facebook page.

After 28 years as a part-time host at WGN, Digilio got his big break in 2013 when he was promoted to full-time status. He celebrated his 30th anniversary on the air May 29. Listeners first met him in 1985 when the late WGN legend Roy Leonard invited Digilio onto Leonard’s show to talk about movies. That led to a regular segment for Digilio and eventually to hosting work.

Digilio, who grew up near Wrigley Field and attended Luther North High School and Columbia College, also worked as an actor and director.
