Dick Biondi is back — and all is right with the world.

The indomitable rock ’n’ roll radio legend, who’s been sidelined with health issues since mid-December, will return this week to his WLS FM 94.7 nighttime show, officials of the Cumulus Media classic hits station confirmed Sunday.

His show airs from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday.

In a phone interview last week, the 82-year-old Biondi said he was eager to return pending approval from his doctor. “To be very honest, I’m going crazy sitting here and waiting to go back to work,” he said. His absence marks the longest Biondi has ever been off the air for health reasons.

Biondi has been battling back for seven weeks since he spent three days in the hospital for treatment of an irregular heartbeat and dehydration. On the day he returned home, he slipped and fell, suffering multiple nasal fractures.

Enshrined in both the Radio Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Biondi has been a megastar behind the microphone for more than six decades and a Chicago radio treasure since he  joined WLS AM 890 in 1960. In 2010 the city of Chicago named the alley south of the old WLS studios near East Lake Street and Garland Court "Dick Biondi Way."

Monday afternoon update: The expected return of radio legend Dick Biondi to his nighttime show Monday has been delayed by the weather. “Dick is delaying his return due to icy conditions on roads and sidewalks,” said Jan Jeffries, senior vice president of corporate programming and program director of WLS FM. “We are now looking to tomorrow, Tuesday, for his return.”
