There’s love in the air on WGN Morning News.

News anchor Erin McElroy and meteorologist Demetrius Ivory, who work together from 4 to 6 a.m. weekdays on Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9, are about to make news of their own: They’ve told friends they’re planning to be married in December.

“Most people here didn’t even know they were dating until just the last couple of weeks,” said one co-worker.

In addition to her early morning anchor duties, McElroy also serves as helicopter traffic reporter during the 6 to 10 a.m. hours of the top-rated morning news show. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago, McElroy joined WGN full-time in 2011 after two years as a per diem general assignment reporter. She previously worked as a traffic anchor for CLTV.

Ivory, a graduate of The Ohio State University, joined WGN in 2013 from WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh.
