Jordan Cornette

Jordan Cornette, one of the three original co-hosts of “The Jam,” is leaving the weekday morning news, talk and entertainment show on Weigel Broadcasting WCIU-Channel 26 at the end of the May ratings sweep.

Cornette declined to say where he’s going next, but hinted that he'd be making an announcement soon. “I’m excited for what lies ahead,” he told me.

A spokeswoman for Weigel Broadcasting said Cornette’s last day on “The Jam” will be May 24. The search for his replacement is underway.

“ ‘The Jam’ has been a magical experience for me,” Cornette said. “Over the past two years I have grown as a TV personality but more importantly as a person.”

Along with Felicia Lawrence and Danielle Robay, Cornette was hired to launch the show in July 2017. Robay left after one year and was replaced by Carly Henderson. It continues to draw dismally low ratings.

"I have been blessed to work with some great people," Cornette said. "Felicia, Carly and the team are incredibly special to me and I will miss working with them on a daily basis. Being able to find my voice in this amazing city has been a dream come true. I have absolutely loved waking up with Chicago every morning."

Cornette, a Cincinnati native and former Notre Dame basketball star, also works as college basketball analyst for ESPN and co-host of David Kaplan’s midday show on ESPN Radio sports/talk WMVP 1000-AM. He previously was a commentator for CBS Sports Network and Fox Sports 1.

He's engaged to Shae Peppler, sports reporter and weekend sports anchor at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32. They’ve set a June 1 wedding date.
