Well, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise: I’ve been troncked.
Tronc, the company formerly known as Tribune Publishing, has chosen not to renew the licensing and marketing agreement for RobertFeder.com. My contract was up at the end of August. Officially I was informed that this was done “for business reasons.”
All I can say is I enjoyed every day of my association with the Chicago Tribune and I appreciate the unique opportunity and freedom I was given. I came to know a lot of great people there and I wish them well.
But this is not the end for me. It’s only the beginning of a new chapter. While I figure out what’s next, I will continue to do the work I love — reporting on the Chicago media beat — right here at RobertFeder.com. (There’s no paywall now, so you no longer need a Tribune digital subscription to read me.) I’ll also keep up with Twitter and Facebook.
Whenever I finalize my next plan, you’ll read about it here. Until then, please know how grateful I am for your loyalty and trust over the past 36 years. I promise I will never take that for granted.
