Amy Carr, former executive editor of Time Out Chicago, has been named development editor of the Chicago Tribune. She starts in the newly created position June 17.
Carr joined Time Out Chicago at its inception as managing editor in 2004 and was promoted to executive editor in 2009. She previously spent 15 years at the Daily Herald, where she rose from reporter to assistant features editor.
In addition to managing editorial and online staff at Time Out Chicago, Carr led development of the TOC for iPad app and creation of the bimonthly Time Out Chicago Kids. In her new job, she is expected to launch new products across a variety of platforms and plan events, among other duties.
Carr left Time Out Chicago after its takeover in April by the international Time Out Group, which ceased publication of the weekly magazine.
