National Radio Hall of Fame

Public voting begins Monday for two categories in the National Radio Hall of Fame.

Through June 30, fans are invited to text their votes to 36500 for one of four nominees in the music format personality category and one of four nominees in the spoken-word format personality category. Winners will be announced July 11.

“The listener response we received last year since reinstituting the public voting process after a five-year hiatus was overwhelmingly positive,” Kraig Kitchin, National Radio Hall of Fame chairman, said in a statement. “Fans want to engage and be a part of the process, which is a tribute to the dynamic personalities of each show.”

Nominees for Music Format On-Air Personality are:  Sean “Hollywood” Hamilton; Tom Kent; “The Kevin & Bean Show” (Kevin Ryder and Gene Baxter), and Bob Kingsley. Nominees For Spoken Word On-Air Personality are: Sean Hannity; “Mike and the Mad Dog” (Mike Francesa and Chris Russo); Diane Rehm, and Michael Savage.

Winners in four other categories will be selected by a panel of 400 industry professionals, including radio executives, programmers, past inductees, executive directors of state broadcast associations, and members of the trade media.

Among this year’s nominees in the Active Local/Regional category are Eric Ferguson and Kathy Hart, morning personalities on Hubbard Radio hot adult-contemporary WTMX FM 101.9. Programs nominated in the Networks/Syndication category include “Wait, Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me!,” hosted by Peter Sagal and produced at Chicago Public Media WBEZ FM 91.5, and “The Steve Harvey Morning Show,” which airs here on iHeartMedia urban adult-contemporary WVAZ FM 102.7. (Other nominees are listed here.)

Induction ceremonies will be November 17 at the Museum of Broadcast Communications, 360 North State Street, home of the National Radio Hall of Fame. For additional information see radiohof.org.
