Nonstop Christmas music on WLIT FM 93.9 catapulted the iHeartMedia adult contemporary station to the top of the latest Nielsen Audio radio ratings.
Figures released Monday showed 93.9 MyFM in first place with a 7.7 percent share of all listeners and a cumulative weekly audience of 2,427,500 for the period from November 6 to December 3. In the previous survey, the station ranked ninth with a 1,824,800 cume.
Marking its 14th consecutive year as "Chicago's Christmas Station," 93.9 MyFM flipped the switch on November 14. Edison the Reindeer returned as its official holiday mascot.
Following WLIT in overall audience were: iHeartMedia urban adult-contemporary WVAZ FM 102.7 with a 7.3 share; CBS Radio all-news WBBM AM 780/WCFS FM 105.9 with a 6.2 share; Hubbard Radio hot adult-contemporary WTMX FM 101.9 with a 4.9 share; and iHeartMedia Top 40 WKSC FM 103.5 with a 4.3 share.
Among listeners between 25 and 54, the top five were: WVAZ with 7.1 share; WLIT with a 6.7 share; WTMX with a 6.3 share; WKSC with a 5.1 share; and Univision Radio regional Mexican WOJO FM 105.1 with a 4.0 share.
All that ho-ho-ho, however, wasn’t enough for 93.9 MyFM to overtake Newsradio 780/105.9 for the top spot in morning drive. Here’s a look at Chicago’s top 10 morning shows among listeners age 6 and older from 6 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, followed by average share (with previous month’s share in parentheses).
