Nick Digilio, who\u2019s been off the air for weeks while battling an undisclosed ailment, <\/a>said he hopes to return to his WGN AM 720<\/a> overnight show July 20.<\/p>\n

Until then, he\u2019s sharing little about the illness that caused him to lose 35 pounds and kept him off the Tribune Media news\/talk station for much of June and all of July so far. Since his release from the hospital last week, he said, he has been staying with his parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m alright. I\u2019m OK. I\u2019m coming along,\u201d he told WGN morning host Steve Cochran by phone in a brief interview <\/a>Tuesday. \u201cI get better every day. It\u2019s a very slow recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Digilio, who turned 50 last Monday, earlier referred to his ailment as \u201ca stomach issue.\u201d This week he said he would wait until he\u2019s back on his own show to \u201ctell everybody exactly what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Messages from fans have been pouring in to Digilio\u2019s Facebook page <\/a>and other sites.<\/p>\n

\u201cI so miss being on \u2019GN,\u201d he told Cochran. \u201cIt\u2019s my lifeblood. It\u2019s my favorite thing in the world to do, to be on the radio. And I really miss it. I thank everybody who have been sending get-well wishes and really good thoughts and all that cool stuff.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna be fine. It\u2019s been a rough patch, and again I\u2019ll explain in detail as to what happened and all that stuff. But I\u2019m gonna do it when I get on the air on the morning of the 20th.\u00a0But I\u2019m gonna be fine. Everything is gonna be good. I might be a little slow for a little while, but I\u2019ll be back up to speed soon.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
