It’s been seven months since Robin Robinson signed off at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32, ending a 27-year run as top news anchor. Now she may be getting ready for a comeback.

Robinson turned up Tuesday night on CBS Radio all-news WBBM AM 780/WCFS FM 105.9 as a guest analyst during coverage of Chicago’s mayoral election. More significantly, she served as one of three panelists on the February 10 mayoral debate that aired on CBS-owned WBBM-Channel 2. The debate was co-sponsored by CBS 2, Midway Broadcasting news/talk WVON AM 1690, the Chicago Urban League and the Business Leadership Council.

For Robinson, 57, both appearances put her back in the media spotlight — and brought her back to the company where her Chicago career began. From 1984 to 1987 she was a reporter and news anchor at CBS 2.

Robinson’s agent, attorney Andrew Stroth, said he’s had discussions with a number of stations in Chicago, including CBS 2, where he and Robinson were seen meeting with management last month.

It’s not clear what role might be created for Robinson, but with CBS 2’s ratings in the doldrums, there’s no doubt the station could benefit from her considerable talent, star power and equity in her hometown.

"Robin was honored to participate in the recent mayoral debate and would welcome the opportunity to return to CBS 2," Stroth said. "At this stage, we're evaluating various TV, radio and online media options.”
