They\u2019re rolling out the welcome mat at WMAQ-Channel 5<\/a> for Katie Kim, just in from KRQE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico.<\/p>\n

Kim joins the NBC-owned station as a general assignment reporter effective October 20, according to Frank Whittaker, station manager and vice president of news at NBC 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled for the opportunity to live and work in such an amazing city!\u201d Kim posted on Facebook,<\/a> as she moves up from the No. 47 market to No. 3. On Twitter,<\/a> she wrote: \u201cAfter 4 incredible yrs in NM, I'm leaving humbled & grateful for a new job in Chicago. I'll cherish my time here. Thank you for your trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

A southern California native and 2009 magna cum laude<\/em> graduate of the University of Southern California (with degrees in broadcast journalism and art history), she began as a reporter for WILX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Lansing, Michigan, before joining WRQE in 2010. Her work also appeared on KASA-TV, the Fox affiliate in Albuquerque.<\/p>\n
