The great Rich Koz<\/strong> will be honored for his 35 years as \u201cSvengoolie\u201d October 10 at the Museum of Broadcast Communications, <\/a>360 North State Street. Hosted by the museum and Weigel Broadcasting\u2019s MeTV Network, \u201cAn Evening with Rich Koz\u201d will feature an interview with the Chicago television icon, the unveiling of a \u201cSvengoolie\u201d exhibit including his original coffin and other artifacts from the set, a Halloween costume contest and screening of a horror film with classic Sven bits. General admission tickets are available online for $35 at museum.tv. <\/a>Museum board member David Plier<\/strong> will talk with Koz about the event at 5:35 p.m. Monday on Tribune Broadcasting news\/talk WGN AM 720.<\/p>\n

Former Bears center Olin Kreutz<\/strong> is the latest football expert to join the lineup of David Kaplan<\/strong> and David Haugh\u2019s<\/strong> midday show on Tribune Broadcasting sports\/talk WGWG LP 87.7.<\/a> Starting September 8, Kreutz will appear with Kaplan and Haugh the day after every Bears game.\u00a0Also new to The Game 87.7 FM is Mike Jacobsen,<\/strong> just hired from Yahoo! Sports Radio and KLAA in Los Angeles as executive producer for Kap & Haugh. A native of northwest suburban Schaumburg, Jacobsen began as an intern for ESPN sports\/talk WMVP AM 1000.<\/p>\n

Jack Ryan\u2019s<\/strong> 22nd Century Media<\/a>\u00a0is adding two more north suburban weekly newspapers \u2014 The Glencoe Anchor in September and a Lake Forest\/Lake Bluff edition in February. The new titles will bring to 15 the number of hyper local publications produced by the former investment banker and Republican politician\u2019s company. \u201cWe\u2019re serving a community need by providing information about the towns we cover,\u201d Ryan has said. \u201cPeople care a lot more about what happens within a few miles of their home than what may be happening on the other side of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erin Kennedy,<\/strong> new morning news anchor at CBS-owned WBBM-Channel 2, and Megan Glaros,<\/strong> morning meteorologist at CBS 2, will host this year\u2019s Chicago\/Midwest\u00a0Emmy nominations party <\/a>September 23 at American Junkie, 15 West Illinois Street. Local Emmys will be awarded November 1 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, 221 North Columbus Drive. For the first time in 25 years, the ceremony will be broadcast live via City Colleges of Chicago\u2019s public television WYCC-Channel 20.<\/p>\n

John Chase Gregoles<\/p><\/div>\n

The newest voice on Cumulus Media news\/talk WLS AM 890<\/a> is John Chase Gregoles.<\/strong> The day trader from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and onetime pro wrestler won the third annual The Next 89 WLS Talk Star <\/a>contest in an online vote. In addition to winning a trip for two to Mexico, he gets to host a two-hour show on the station. \u201cOur last two winners are still on the air with a weekend show and occasional fill-in,\u201d WLS program director Peter Bolger<\/strong> said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s certainly possible we\u2019ll be as fortunate with this year\u2019s winner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Known mainly for its time-brokered ethnic and foreign language programming, Kovas Communications north suburban WCGO AM 1590<\/a> is going mainstream from noon to 6 p.m. weekdays. Starting next week, two new locally produced talk shows join the lineup \u2014 Franklin Raff<\/strong> from noon to 2 p.m. and Geoff Pinkus<\/strong> from 4 to 6 p.m. Airing from 2 to 4 p.m. will be Dallas-based syndicated host Dana Loesch.<\/strong> WCGO consultant Tim Disa<\/strong> called their approach \u201ca younger, hipper, and somewhat friendlier version of conservative talk that leans more libertarian and will be open to all.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
