<\/a> Sandy Pudar<\/p><\/div>\n

Sandy Pudar, executive producer of WGN-Channel 9\u2019s<\/a> top-rated morning news show and a 15-year veteran of the Tribune Broadcasting station, was promoted Wednesday to assistant news director.<\/p>\n

The No. 2 post has been vacant since Jennifer Lyons moved up\u00a0<\/a>to news director, succeeding Greg Caputo, who retired in June after 11 years. Pudar worked as a news writer and producer before she was named executive producer of WGN Morning News<\/a> in 2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor more than five years as executive producer, she\u2019s maintained our No. 1 status in the highly competitive morning news time slot and actually grown it, which is quite a feat,\u201d Lyons said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cSandy is an organized, hard-working and dedicated journalist who will assist in leading our newsroom as we continue to grow. And, simply put, when it comes to blowing out news coverage, there\u2019s no one better.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of this fall, WGN will air a record 61 hours of live local news each week.<\/p>\n

A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Pudar began her career as an intern for CNN\u2019s \u201cLarry King Live.\u201d She joined WGN as an intern in 1999.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
