The parent company of public television WTTW-Channel 11 and classical music WFMT FM 98.7 has eliminated the position of a former spokeswoman it praised as \u201cunparalleled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holly Gilson most recently was director of strategic partnerships and special projects at Window to the World Communications.<\/a> A highly regarded 13-year veteran of the company, she previously was director of corporate communications.<\/p>\n

In 2012, the company eliminated the position of 16-year veteran Joanie Bayhack as senior vice president of communications and corporate partnerships.<\/p>\n

WTTW officials did not respond to an inquiry Friday, but an internal memo said Gilson\u2019s job was being eliminated to create a new position of director of development for the Imagining More campaign, a $75 million capital fundraising drive.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a business decision that enables us to address the critical needs associated with the most ambitious fundraising effort in the history of our institution,\u201d the memo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHolly has had a profound and positive impact on the organization during her tenure at WTTW|WFMT. She has advanced innumerable projects and partnerships for the organization from which we continue to benefit. As a spokesperson, she is unparalleled. We appreciate her many years of service to WTTW|WFMT.\u201d<\/p>\n
