She was the highest-ranking woman in the editorial department of the paper.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLinda is a great friend and colleague, and we\u2019re going to miss her,\u201d said Jim Kirk, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Sun-Times.<\/p>\n<p>Bergstrom joined the Sun-Times in May 2012 after 18 years at the Chicago Tribune, including the last seven as lifestyle editor. Kirk called her \u201ca crucial hire for us\u201d at the time, telling staffers: \u201cAs we look to expand our footprint in content areas that stretch from health to entertainment, Linda brings a wealth of experience and ideas. She is a natural leader who can look at any situation and give you a dozen ways to address them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her departure comes just weeks after Sue Ontiveros, a 30-year veteran of the Sun-Times, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertfeder.com\/2014\/03\/24\/editors-dream-ontiveros-leaving-sun-times\/\" target=\"_blank\">stepped down<\/a> as deputy features editor, the post she had held since 2006.<\/p>\n<p>No decision has been made about whether Bergstrom will be replaced, Kirk said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After two years overseeing features at the Sun-Times, Linda Bergstrom resigned Tuesday as associate editor, citing personal reasons.
