Featuring alternate covers designed by Andrea Coleman<\/strong> and Nikko Washington,<\/strong> and guest-edited by Tara Betts<\/strong> and Scoop Jackson,<\/strong> the entire November issue is devoted to celebrating Black Chicago. Among the 137 \"bests\" are media-related honorees\u00a0Brandis Friedman,<\/strong> co-anchor of WTTW-Channel 11's \"Chicago Tonight,\" as best new news host; Jonathan Hood,<\/strong> morning co-host on sports\/talk WMVP 1000-AM, as best radio breakthrough; Morgan Sherm<\/strong> as best radio producer and trans activist; and The Triibe,<\/a>\u00a0digital platform for Chicago Black Millennials, as best alternative journalism. Justin Kaufmann,<\/strong> the multitalented Chicago radio host and improv comedy performer, just unveiled his latest project: a live one-hour talk show under the banner of \"Chicago4Real.\"<\/a> Streaming from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday on the digital platform Twitch, <\/a>it's one of seven new shows launched by Chicago4Real Entertainment, a content creation studio focused on live interactive programming. Under executive producer David Sterling,<\/strong> other contributors include Lisa Beasley, Lorena Diaz-Dwyer, Scott Goldstein, Wendy Mateo, TJ Shanoff<\/strong> and Shantira Jackson<\/strong>. Kaufmann continues to fill in as interim host of the newsmagazine show \"Reset,\" which airs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays on Chicago Public Media WBEZ 91.5-FM<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Capping an award-winning 45-year career as a television producer, documentary filmmaker, writer, director and deal-maker \u2014 including the last 29 years in Los Angeles \u2014 John Davies<\/strong> has announced he's retired and moved back home to Chicago. His latest project, the acclaimed political corruption documentary\u00a0\"Lincoln Is Crying: The Grifters, Grafters & Governors of Illinois,\"<\/a>\u00a0will premiere December 22 on\u00a0WTTW-Channel 11<\/a>, the Window to the World Communication station where Davies spent more than a decade as a producer. His credits there included co-creator and executive producer of \"Wild Chicago\" and producer of \"Sneak Previews.\"<\/p>\n
