Now Hoenig has brought them back to life in a fascinating documentary called<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pittrading101.com\" target=\"_blank\"> \u201cPit Trading 101.\u201d<!--more--><\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2490\" style=\"width: 218px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/J-Hoenig-1996.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2490\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2490\" alt=\"Jonathan Hoenig (1996)\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/J-Hoenig-1996.png\" width=\"208\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2490\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jonathan Hoenig (1996)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The film, available for $2.99 on iTunes, Amazon, Vimeo and at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pittrading101.com\" target=\"_blank\">PitTrading101.com,<\/a> is based on footage shot in 1996 by a documentary crew that was given access to a training class for novice traders at the CME. Among the ambitious young capitalists who were profiled was a 22-year-old Hoenig, who began as a clerk on the trading floor.<\/p>\n<p>The footage sat unused until Hoenig recovered it last year and teamed with award-winning Chicago producer Jamie Ceaser to complete the production. \u201cI produced this film as a way to remember this unique industry that was an intrinsic part of Chicago, the financial markets and thousands of trader\u2019s lives including mine,\u201d Hoenig said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe skills I learned as a pit trader were invaluable to my investment career. There\u2019s nothing on earth that can describe what it\u2019s like to stand in a busy Chicago commodities pit and trade.
