Chicago radio morning star Leon Rogers<\/strong> is about to get his own late-night comedy\/news show on TV. Starting September 9, \u201cLater with Leon\u201d will air at 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday on Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32.<\/a> Rogers and his co-host, Fox 32 reporter Tia Ewing,<\/strong> will talk about the news of the day and interview newsmakers and entertainers. \u201cTrust me when I tell you this one IS FOR THE GO!\u201d Rogers wrote on social media. The veteran stand-up comedian and actor, who calls himself \"The Destined Legend,\" continues to host mornings on iHeartMedia urban contemporary WGCI 107.5-FM<\/a> along with Kendra Gilliams<\/strong> and Kyle Santillian.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now that The CW Network is headed over<\/a> to Weigel Broadcasting WCIU-Channel 26, it's back to My50 Chicago for Fox-owned WPWR-Channel 50. <\/a>Monday marks the return of the former branding after three years as CW50 Chicago. The new primetime schedule will feature \"Chicago P.D.\" at 7 p.m. weeknights, followed by the My Network TV <\/a>lineup of \"Law & Order: Criminal Intent\" on Mondays, \"Chicago P.D.\" on Tuesdays, \"Dateline\" on Wednesdays, \"The Good Wife\" on Thursdays, and \"CSI: Miami\" on Fridays.<\/p>\n

After three years as a reporter for NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5,<\/a> Ash-har Quraishi<\/strong> has been hired as a national news correspondent for E.W. Scripps Company, <\/a>starting September 16. The Chicago native and University of Illinois graduate previously worked as a correspondent for Window to the World Communications WTTW-Channel 11\u2032s \u201cChicago Tonight.\u201d He also was chief Midwest correspondent for Al Jazeera America and Islamabad bureau chief and correspondent for CNN. \"Ash-har has a passion for storytelling and has had the opportunity to cover important stories across the globe,\" said Nicole Denne,<\/strong> senior director of national news for Scripps.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Tanaka<\/p><\/div>\n

Jennifer Tanaka,<\/strong> former executive digital editor and deputy\/senior editor at Chicago magazine, has been named senior editor of digital news at Chicago Public Media WBEZ 91.5-FM.<\/a> In her new role she'll lead the digital content team \"to amplify WBEZ\u2019s position as an essential destination for outstanding journalism and news coverage in Chicago,\" according to a station announcement. Since 2014 Tanaka has been director of digital communications in the alumni relations department of Northwestern University. With degrees from Northwestern and DePaul University, Tanaka previously worked as a staff writer and editor at Newsweek.<\/p>\n

Lauren Magiera<\/p><\/div>\n

Lauren Magiera,<\/strong> sports anchor and reporter at Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9,<\/a> shares her passion for the outdoors in a news special airing at 6 p.m. Saturday. \"Destination: Outdoors with Lauren Magiera\"<\/a> will highlight rock climbing, fly fishing, mountain biking, canoeing, camping and more in and around Illinois. It will be rebroadcast at noon Sunday on CLTV and 11 p.m. Sunday on WGN. Magiera, who grew up in the northwest suburbs and graduated from Barrington High School, attended the University of Alaska Anchorage on a gymnastics scholarship. She joined WGN in 2016.<\/p>\n
