WGN has given me opportunities to turn stories that I am proud of, anchor alongside the best in the business, and to grow as a morning news personality and journalist.\"<\/p>\n<p>Hall's surprise departure was the second in two days at WGN. Amy Rutledge, the traffic and feature reporter who doubled as a fill-in news anchor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertfeder.com\/2019\/08\/21\/robservations-abc-7-promotes-windy-city-producer-programming-chief\/\">left,<\/a> sources said, to join Weigel Broadcasting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wciu.com\">WCIU-Channel 26<\/a> as co-host of \u201cThe Jam,\u201d the weekday morning talk and entertainment show.<\/p>\n<p>Hall, a Chicago native who grew up in west suburban Oak Brook, graduated from Fenwick High School and Georgetown University. She received a master\u2019s degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining CLTV as morning news anchor in 2012, Hall worked for WKMG, the CBS affiliate in Orlando, Florida; WCIA, the CBS affiliate in Champaign; and Bloomberg News in New York.<\/p>\n<p>She also has moonlighted as official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/bulls\/entertainment\/bulls-host-cortney\">in-arena host<\/a> for the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertfeder.com\/2019\/08\/21\/robservations-abc-7-promotes-windy-city-producer-programming-chief\/#comments\">Wednesday\u2019s comment of the day:<\/a> <strong>Steve Rozwalka:<\/strong> <em>Asking Mike North for sports picks is like asking my kid what color crayon I should eat next.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After seven years as a second-tier morning news anchor at Tribune Media WGN-Channel 9 and CLTV, Cortney Hall is about to take on a starring role of her own.
