Chicago's top-rated radio station is about to dedicate the midnight hour to the newest releases in pop music.

Starting tonight, “The Mix New Music Club” will air from midnight to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday on Hubbard Radio hot adult-contemporary WTMX 101.9-FM.

It will be hosted by Nikki Chuminatto, who doubles as music director and overnight host of 101.9 The Mix. She will be joined by special guests and invite interaction with listeners on social media.

Jimmy Steal, vice president of brand and content at 101.9 The Mix, said “The Mix New Music Club” underwent a few quiet test runs before its official launch this week.

"While our audience enjoys listening to the songs they’ve known and loved for years, we also know there’s an appetite for the very best in the new music that’s released every week," according to a statement. "With the amazing volume of new pop music currently available, lately due to a current pop music renaissance of sorts, we’ve created an opportunity to play an hour of all new music every weeknight at midnight."

Chuminatto joined 101.9 The Mix in 2006 from alternative rock WKQX 101.1-FM, where she was assistant music director and midday host. A graduate of Michigan State University, she previously worked for stations in Detroit and Lansing.

There's still no word on a permanent replacement for Chris Reese, who was cut as evening host in March. Nikki Imbracsio, former midday personality at Entercom Top 40 WBBM 96.3-FM, has been filling in from 7 p.m. to midnight.

In the latest Nielsen Audio survey, 101.9 The MIX was Chicago's No. 1 station with a 5.9 percent audience share overall.
