Terms were not disclosed.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\"I\u2019m extremely excited to be continuing the work of the Chicagoist, an integral local platform for Chicago news, events and entertainment,\u201d Chance the Rapper said in a statement. \u201cWNYC\u2019s commitment to finding homes for the \u201cist\u201d brands, including Chicagoist, was an essential part of continuing the legacy and integrity of the site. I look forward to relaunching it and bringing the people of Chicago an independent media outlet focused on amplifying diverse voices and content.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago community activist and recording artist, whose given name is Chancelor Bennett, announced the acquisition in a song he released at midnight Thursday titled \"I Might Need Security.\" Its lyrics include: \"I bought the Chicagoist just to run you racist bitches outta business.\"<\/p>\n<p>Laura Walker, president and CEO of New York Public Radio, said in a statement: \u201cWe are delighted that the Chicagoist assets are finding a new home in the hands of a proud Chicagoan. WNYC has a strong commitment to local journalism and building community, and we are pleased that these assets will be used to support local coverage in the great city of Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move comes three weeks after WNYC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertfeder.com\/2018\/06\/28\/block-club-chicago-acquires-archive-dnainfo\/\">transferred<\/a> the assets of DNAinfo Chicago to<a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\"> Block Club Chicago,<\/a>\u00a0the new subscription-based neighborhood news service launched by former editors of DNAinfo.
