Now it\u2019s WGN-Channel 9\u2019s<\/a> turn to show off fancy new digs. On its 4 p.m. newscast Wednesday the Tribune Media station will debut a new news set, featuring \u201cthe latest in studio technology, including two video walls, video panels, and LED lighting,\u201d according to officials. \u201cWe are excited to have a set that fully supports all of our news programs and are thrilled with the \u2018state-of-the-art\u2019 result,\u201d Paul Rennie,<\/strong> president and general manager of WGN, said in a statement. Also look for \u201cChicago\u2019s Very Own\u201d to unveil a new logo. Let\u2019s just hope the new overlords<\/a> from Sinclair Broadcast Group approve.<\/p>\n

Byron Miranda<\/p><\/div>\n

So long to meteorologist Byron Miranda,<\/strong> who\u2019s signing off June 9 after three years at NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5.<\/a> His weather duties on the 11 a.m. weekday newscast will be handled by others on staff, according to Frank Whittaker,<\/strong> station manager and vice president of news. FTVLive<\/a> reported Miranda is joining WPIX, the Tribune Media station in New York. This was Miranda\u2019s second stint at NBC 5. From 1998 to 2002 he was morning meteorologist.<\/p>\n

Richard Roeper<\/p><\/div>\n

Before this week it may have seemed strange to see a Chicago Tribune <\/a>event headlined by a prominent Sun-Times<\/a> personality. But maybe not now.<\/a> Richard Roeper,<\/strong>\u00a0movie critic for the Sun-Times, has been tapped to interview Basketball Hall of Famer and author Kareem Abdul-Jabbar<\/strong> June 11 at Printers Row Lit Fest,<\/a> the Tribune\u2019s annual book festival. Roeper also is co-host of \"Good Day Chicago\" on Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32 and a regular contributor to Roe Conn\u2019s<\/strong> afternoon show on news\/talk WGN AM 720.<\/p>\n

Erin Ivory<\/p><\/div>\n

After eight years on \u201cWGN Morning News,\u201d<\/a> traffic reporter Erin Ivory<\/strong> is taking on a new assignment as feature reporter for WGN\u2019s 4 and 5 p.m. newscasts. \u201cI really enjoy getting out to meet people and sharing their stories . . . their joys, struggles and personal triumphs,\u201d she told Facebook<\/a> friends. \u201cFor a while now, I have been itching to get back to my roots and WGN is giving me an opportunity to do just that.\u201d Her husband, meteorologist Demetrius Ivory,<\/strong> already works on the 4 p.m. newscast. To accommodate the move, traffic reporter Sarah Jindra<\/strong> shifts from afternoons to mornings, and feature reporter Amy Rutledge<\/strong> goes airborne as Skycam 9's helicopter reporter.<\/p>\n

Jeff Reisman<\/p><\/div>\n

Jeff Reisman,<\/strong> general\u00a0manager of Salem Media news\/talk WIND AM 560<\/a> and Christian talk WYLL AM 1160,<\/a> has been promoted to operational vice president for Salem\u2019s radio division. In addition to the Chicago radio cluster, he\u2019ll oversee the company\u2019s Boston and Philadelphia stations. Allen Power,<\/strong> senior vice president of Salem Radio said Reisman has \u201cproven himself as a problem-solving leader who has driven growth and innovation in Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n
