In an unusual partnership between two Chicago area radio stations, College of DuPage\u2019s WDCB FM 90.9<\/a> is picking up a weekly jazz show produced by the syndication division<\/a> of Window to the World Communications\u2019 classical WFMT FM 98.7.<\/a> Starting May 7, \u201cSunday Jazz with Dee Alexander<\/strong>,\u201d hosted by the famed jazz vocalist and songwriter, will air from 8 to 10 p.m. Sundays on WDCB. It\u2019s the first show to air locally from WFMT Radio Network\u2019s newly rebranded <\/a>Jazz Network. \u201cWe\u2019re ecstatic to have an artist of Dee Alexander\u2019s stature joining our radio lineup,\u201d said\u00a0Dan Bindert,<\/strong> station manager of WDCB. \u201cDee\u2019s wonderful voice and warm personality, combined with her unique insights and deep knowledge of the music \u2013 that\u2019s an unbeatable combination for a jazz radio program.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lisa Chavarria<\/p><\/div>\n

It\u2019s over and out for Lisa Chavarria,<\/strong> whose contract was not renewed after five years as a reporter and fill-in news anchor at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32.<\/a> The Chicago native and graduate of Columbia College Chicago began as an intern in the Chicago bureau of NBC News and at Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9. <\/a>She later worked for stations in Traverse City, Michigan; Nashville and Houston before joining Fox 32 in 2012.<\/p>\n

Jackie Paulus<\/p><\/div>\n

Jackie Paulus<\/strong>\u00a0has announced plans to resign as director of marketing and digital innovation at Tribune Broadcasting news\/talk WGN AM 720.<\/a> She\u2019s leaving in June to become a partner in After the Whistle,<\/a> the new sports marketing company launched <\/a>by Jimmy deCastro,<\/strong> former president and general manager of WGN. Paulus joined WGN in 2008 from KMOX in St. Louis, where she was marketing and events director. WGN has begun the search for a new director of marketing and digital.<\/p>\n

Tony Lossano<\/p><\/div>\n

Congratulations to Tony Lossano<\/strong> on the 20th anniversary of \u201cNude Hippo,\u201d his locally produced variety\/talk show. Premiering May 3 at NudeHippo.com,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cNude Hippo 20\u201d will be hosted by Lossano and Amy Zanglin.<\/strong> The one-hour special will feature reporters Jen DeSalvo,\u00a0Vickie Eisenstein, Evie Olson,<\/strong> and an animated character named Grouchypuff (who\u2019ll interview Rich \u201cSvengoolie\u201d Koz<\/strong>). Other highlights will be great moments from the past 20 years and some never-before-seen footage from Lossano\u2019s archives.<\/p>\n

Dan Lee and Nancy Detlefsen<\/p><\/div>\n

Wonderful news for Chicago radio entrepreneur Dan Lee,<\/strong> who finally found a kidney donor after a two-year search. Suffering from kidney failure caused by chemotherapy to treat esophageal cancer, Lee required a living donor with Blood Type O for a replacement kidney. Thanks to Nancy Detlefsen<\/strong>\u00a0of north suburban Northfield, he received a new kidney in March. \u201cWords cannot express our gratitude; her generosity knows no bounds and she is truly our hero,\u201d Lee\u2019s family said.
