They helped WCIU significantly grow our local programming presence in recent years. We thank them for their hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the timing of Thursday\u2019s move came as a surprise to the show\u2019s staff and station employees, the decision was not unexpected. Low ratings have plagued \u201cYou &amp; Me\u201d since its inception in October 2009, with no improvement in sight.<\/p>\n<p>In the February sweep that ended Wednesday, the two-hour show averaged a scant 0.2 rating (or 6,926 households) and 1.0 percent audience share, according to Nielsen figures. Among advertiser-targeted viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, the show had a 0.1 rating and 0.8 share.<\/p>\n<p>Plans are in the works for a replacement on The U, but no start date has been set. Details on the new morning program will be unveiled later this spring, according to the station\u2019s announcement Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>In the interim, Jon Hansen, the show\u2019s social media coordinator and on-air correspondent, will host \u201cYou &amp; Me\u201d with a mix of rotating guest co-hosts.<\/p>\n<p>Sparrow and Forman were both veterans of Chicago radio when they launched the show, originally titled \"You &amp; Me This Morning,\" as an alternative to local newscasts on competing stations.
