After three years as a news anchor at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32, Kristen Nicole is moving back to Lexington, Kentucky. Her last day on the air here will be May 31.
Nicole told viewers Friday she was expecting her third child in nine weeks and would be heading home with her family. "What a blessing to have had the chance to work in such an amazing city!" she tweeted.
Her last pregnancy made news in 2017 when Nicole fought back against a handful of viewers who criticized her on-air wardrobe choices. Fox 32 defended her on social media against what it called her “body shaming experience.”
“I just hope that maybe some other woman who’s going through this as well sees there are people that are supporting you, and this is not the 1960s where you needed to hide or be ashamed of your pregnancy,” Nicole said at the time. “I appreciate so many people laughing with me, and their continued support and encouragement.”
Nicole joined Fox 32 as weekend news anchor in 2016 from WLEX, the NBC affiliate in Lexington, where she was known on the air as Kristen Pflum. She also worked weekday mornings here as a co-anchor of “Good Day Chicago” before moving back to weekends.
A native of Indianapolis and graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, Nicole began as an intern at WBBH, the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida, and later worked as a reporter at WISE, the NBC affiliate in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
No replacement for her has been named at Fox 32.
