Chicago honors iHeartMedia exec with 'Angela Ingram Day'

Angela Ingram

For 24 years Angela Ingram has been making everyone else at iHeartMedia Chicago look good. Now the company’s veteran marketing and communications chief is getting some recognition of her own.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proclaimed Thursday “Angela Ingram Day in Chicago” to honor her leadership in a wide range of community endeavors and to “acknowledge all her accomplishments and role in making Chicago a better and more welcoming city.”

As senior vice president of communications for the Chicago region of iHeartMedia Markets Group, Ingram established a local advisory board in 2004, bringing together more than 50 civic and business leaders to support education, voter registration, health awareness, volunteerism and women’s issues, among other causes.

“Angela has been a leader in our community for decades,” said her boss, Matt Scarano, president of iHeartMedia Chicago. “Her experience, wisdom and insight make her one of the most valuable managers in Chicago.”

Ingram joined the Chicago station group (then under Clear Channel Radio ownership) as director of marketing in 1995 after holding marketing and promotions positions for the company’s stations in Louisville, Kentucky, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

The iHeartMedia cluster here includes urban contemporary WGCI 107.5-FM, urban adult-contemporary WVAZ 102.7-FM, Top 40 WKSC 103.5-FM, adult contemporary WLIT 93.9-FM, country WEBG 95.5-FM, and gospel WGRB 1390-AM.

Wednesday's comment of the day: Carol Hughes: What a great photo and story about Jim Dunbar and WLS. Brings back memories of the 60s . . . listening to WLS 890 AM at Rainbow Beach on a summer's day. Wish we could bring back the old WLS Chicago vibe.
