Tronc hires P.R. exec from Wrapports

Marisa Kollias, a former spokeswoman for Chicago Sun-Times owner Wrapports, has been hired as vice president of corporate communications for Chicago Tribune parent company tronc.

She succeeds Dana Meyer, who resigned last April as executive director of corporate communications.

“Marisa is a skilled communications pro who brings not only a wealth of experience, but also a great understanding of the media industry,” Justin Dearborn, CEO of tronc, said in a statement Monday. “Her expertise will be a great asset and [I] am thrilled to welcome her to our team.”

A graduate of Columbia College and former director of public relations for Cook County Health and Hospitals System, Kollias most recently headed her own media relations firm.

After accepting the position with tronc, Kollias severed ties with Wrapports, where she had been under contract for less than a year, according to Jim Kirk, publisher and editor of the Sun-Times.

Michael Ferro, former chairman and principal owner of Wrapports, has brought over several key figures associated with his old company since he left to become chairman of Tribune Publishing (which he renamed tronc).
