Veteran Chicago sports media executive Phil Bedella is out after six years as vice president and general manager of Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the regional sports network confirmed Thursday.

No reason was cited for the departure, and Bedella could not be reached immediately for comment.

Jeff Nuich, senior director of communications for CSN Chicago, referred inquiries to an NBC Sports Regional Networks spokesperson, who confirmed that Bedella was no longer with the company, adding: “We wish Phil well in his future endeavors.”

Bill Bridgen, president and group leader of NBC Sports Regional Networks, is running the Chicago business on an interim basis, the spokesperson said.

Bedella joined CSN in 2004 as vice president/general sales manager and was promoted to assistant general manager and vice president of advertising in 2008. He was named vice president and general manager in 2011. He worked under Jim Corno, the late president of CSN Chicago, who died in 2013.

A Chicago native and graduate of Illinois State University, Bedella previously worked for Fox Sports Net Chicago where he rose from local sales manager to vice president general sales manager. Earlier he worked for CBS Sports Marketing as manager of sports sales and for the Chicago Cubs as a sales associate.

CSN Chicago is a partnership between the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and the NBC Sports Group.
