NBC 5 hires assistant news director from Milwaukee

Tracy Davis

Tracy Davis, news director of the Weigel Broadcasting station in Milwaukee, has been hired as assistant news director at WMAQ-Channel 5, the NBC-owned station announced Tuesday.

Davis will start here June 5, according to the announcement by Frank Whittaker, station manager and vice president of news at NBC 5.

As the station’s No. 2 news executive, Davis will fill the vacancy created by the departure last November of Debra Juarez, who held the title of news director. Juarez was promoted to vice president, digital for NBC/Universal’s South Florida duopoly stations, WTVJ and Telemundo WSCV.

A native of Elkhart, Indiana, and graduate of Franklin College, Davis started her career as a producer at WLFI, the CBS affiliate in West Lafayette, Indiana.

She later worked as executive producer, news manager and news director for WFFF, the Fox affiliate in Colchester, Vermont, before joining Weigel’s WDJT, the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, as assistant news director in 2013. She was promoted to news director in 2015, overseeing both WDJT and Telemundo WYTU.
