Merry Christmas, Chicago. It’s that time again.

At 4:35 p.m. Thursday, WLIT FM 93.9 will switch to around-the-clock holiday music programming through December 26 for the 15th consecutive year. Edison the Reindeer returns as the official mascot of “Chicago’s Christmas Station.”

“This year promises to be the best yet as 93.9 MYfm celebrates a 15-year milestone with our listeners and the Chicagoland area,” Mick Lee, program director of the iHeartMedia adult contemporary station, said in a statement.

You can’t argue with success: Last December more than 3,772,000 Chicago area listeners tuned in to WLIT, skyrocketing the station to first place with a 14.2 percent share (more than double the next station’s audience share).

How does that compare with the rest of the year? In the latest Nielsen Audio survey, WLIT ranked 11th with a 3.2 share and cumulative weekly audience of 1,858,300.
