Wedding bells rang high atop Chicago Saturday night for Natalie Bomke, weekend news anchor at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32, and Ed Swiderski, a former contestant on ABC’s “The Bachelorette.”
The two were married in an outdoor civil ceremony amid the flying buttresses of Tribune Tower's 25th floor in the private rooftop veranda known as The Crown. The reception was held at Howells & Hood, the restaurant on the building’s ground floor.
The couple first went public with their romance in January 2014 when Swiderski rose to Bomke’s defense in a strangely passive-aggressive letter he sent after I’d mentioned Bomke on this blog a few times. “We’re a fun couple,” Swiderski wrote after inviting me for a drink with them sometime. The meeting never happened.
It’s a first marriage for both Bomke, 33, who grew up in Springfield and joined Fox 32 in 2013 from KRIV-TV in Houston, and Swiderski, 36, a Chicago technology consultant who appeared in the fifth season of “The Bachelorette.”
Bomke’s Fox 32 colleagues at the wedding included news anchors Corey McPherrin and Larry Yellen and meteorologist Tammie Souza.
