Chicago-based Towers Productions has signed to produce a weekly reality series for Fox Business Network that will examine “real-life stories of unconventional inheritances.”

Production begins later this month on “Strange Inheritance,” to be hosted by Fox Business Network anchor Tracy Byrnes. It will debut this summer as part of the network’s initiative to diversity its prime-time programming.

"We're very excited to be launching this new series with Fox Business Network, and to be sharing the rich and wonderful stories of Americans' unusual inheritances,” said Jonathan Towers, founder and senior executive producer of Towers Productions. “We think this is a unique opportunity to expand the scope of business news."

The deal marks the first collaboration between the network and Towers Productions, whose previous credits include A&E’s "American Justice," National Geographic’s "Inside 9/11" and History Channel’s "Gangland."

Kevin Magee, executive vice president of Fox Business Network, called the “eccentric premise” of the inheritance series “a compelling option for a business audience after hours.”
